Auto Accompaniment automatically provides rhythm, matching bass lines and chords to your play. Single Finger mode lets you automatically produce fully orchestrated accompaniment, just by pressing a minimum number of keys. In Fingered mode you play all of the notes of the chords yourself as the PSR-300 creates appropriate accompaniment.

Keyboard Percussion feature provides various drum and percussion sounds as well as special voice effects directly from the keyboard. A total of 25 different sounds are available from a highly logical keyboard layout where graphic symbols above appropriate keys give you instant control of a complete drum kit.

A sophisticated Auto Harmony function fills out your sound by adding appropriate harmony notes to the single note melodies that you play. Five different settings - Duet, Trio, Block, Country, and Octave - are available for recreating instrumental voicings often used in jazz, popular and country music.

Built-in Chord memory lets you record your own chord sequences using the Auto Accompaniment features. You can play back the chord sequence and add a melody line or improvisation on top - even with both hands. Three separate banks are available for storing your chord sequences. The Chain function lets you assign the banks to up to 8 chain positions, for playing back chord sequences continuously in succession. Recorded sequences can be "chained" together in the desired order for playback.

MIDI enables you to communicate with other electronic musical instruments. This capability allows you to play the sounds and rhythms of another MIDI instrument from the PSR-500, or play sounds from the PSR-500 from another MIDI instrument. The PSR300 can receive MIDI data (including velocity) over all 16 MIDI channels. It also features dynamic voice allocation for up to 28 notes at once and allows you to simultaneously play up to 16 PSR voices from a MIDI device.
